programming support for various corporate application supporting Insurance
Underwriting activities. Involves technical support, code maintenance
and application enhancements. The primary focus is currently on two applications.
The first is a mainframe batch application having elements of JCL, COBOL
and SAS. The second is an application that creates documents from Microsoft
Word templates. Data is entered and stored via a Microsoft Access front
end. The templates access the data and create the document using Microsoft
Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code.

using the UNIX crontab feature. Research proposed project to determine
if Visual Basic is an acceptable tool. Assisted in the development of
a modest Visual Basic application using an ODBC connection to an Oracle

Spent the
last four months on the Claims Production Support team. Primary responsibility
was to provide Level 3 support for the application. Secondarily involved
in application modifications and bug fixes. The Object Oriented application
was coded in C++ in the UNIX environment. Code revision control was accomplished
using Continuus.
Initially
hired as a member of the Vista Support group in the Personal Markets Information
Systems division. The position was primarily technical support for the
Views application with special emphasis in backend systems/programs and
image scanning systems.
Successfully
created and completed a C language program to pass motor vehicle records
from the regional RS6000 sites to a central RS6000 site in Weston, MA.
This information was then passed to a MQ messaging queue in order to pass
and receive information from the mainframe. Created Sybase stored procedures
(SQL) to execute database activities.
Created and
modified Korn shell scripts used to support the Views application and
production support. Successfully completed courses in Basic Korn Shell
Programming, Introduction to Visual C++ Programming and Fundamentals of
Programming in Visual Basic through the Performance Support Group of Liberty
Mutual.
